Airswift is currently seeking a Planning/Scheduling Engineer to work with a major chemical client in Houston, TX. This will be a long-term W-2 contract position with the ability to go direct with the client.
The Planning/Scheduling Engineer is responsible for developing and maintaining project schedules to support construction and engineering activities. This role involves collaborating with project teams to develop detailed work plans, monitor progress against milestones, and identify schedule risks and opportunities.
Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain project schedules using scheduling software, such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project.
Collaborate with project teams to develop detailed work plans and schedules for construction and engineering activities. Monitor progress against project schedules and milestones and identify schedule variances and risks.
Analyze schedule impacts of changes to project scope, resources, or priorities and develop mitigation strategies.
Prepare schedule reports and presentations to communicate schedule status and performance to project stakeholders. Provide recommendations to optimize project schedules, including resource leveling, critical path analysis, and schedule compression. Coordinate with project teams to resolve schedule-related issues and conflicts.
Participate in project meetings and reviews to provide schedule updates and recommendations.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field. Experience working as a planning/scheduling engineer or project controls specialist in the construction or engineering industry.
Proficiency in scheduling software and tools, such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project.
Knowledge of project management principles and techniques, including schedule development, resource management, and risk analysis.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- The Planning Engineer under the direction of the Lead Planner is responsible for developing and reporting critical path plans and related schedules for the project. Applies standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out planning and scheduling engineering tasks supporting the management of the project. The Lead Planning Engineer is closely involved and facilitates the preparation of the project plan and schedule and must be able to provide accurate and timely status of the project plan.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities
- Follows owners established standard processes, procedures and formats required for corporate reporting and deliverables.
- An active member of the PC Team collaborating and supporting project specific strategies and deliverables.
- Participates in establishing initial plan by implementing owners templates and facilitating interactive planning sessions with key project team members.
- Assists in the development of schedule breakdown structures in accordance with the predefined requirements and works with the Lead Cost Engineer to ensure seamless integration of P6 and Ecosys coding structures.
- Prepares drafts of network logic diagrams for segments or the entire project as applicable.
- Performs forward and backward pass assessments during the preparation of the project schedule and provides critical path analysis highlighting pertinent start and finish dates of milestones and activities.
- Compiles, organizes planning information, and prepares as applicable to the project stage the related project schedules versions with different levels of detail and criteria including the preliminary, 90 days lookahead and master schedule.
- Utilizes Primavera P6 as scheduling and reporting tool.
- Reviews short-cycle schedule impacts and prepares CPM project schedule analysis.
- Responsible for resource loading the project schedule.
- Collects, validates, and integrates schedule and earned value progress information from vendors and contractors.
- Prepares different tabular and graphical schedule timeline and resources reports from as required.
- May collect historical engineering, procurement and construction data for reporting, metrics, and performance analysis.
- Assists in the integration of project changes in the schedule forecast.
- Assists in developing alternatives to accommodate changes and priorities.
- Attends project meetings and participates by providing the applicable reports.
- Facilitates meetings with key project team members, vendors, and contractors to address and update the project schedule status and forecast.
- Provides proactive and accurate schedule management assessments to assist the project management team.
